[VG Blog] - So Many Video Games, So Little Time

Posted by PureLionHeart - August 23rd, 2007

VG Blog installments:
So Many Video Games, So Little Time
Assassin's Creed (PS3, 360, PC)
Future VG Blogs
Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools Of Destruction (PS3)

VG Blog is, simply put, where I discuss anything video game related. Previews, reviews, my own game progress, etc. Hope you enjoy.

I have far too many games to complete, and I don't know if I ever will manage to do so, especially since I'm spending so much time here. And as soon as I start/finish one game, another is released that I must have, or an older game I've wanted receives a price drop.

I'm already racing against time 'til October, when the two next big games I want, The Legend Of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (Nintendo DS; Oct. 1) & Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools Of Destruction (Oct. 23; Which also calls for a PS3 purchase), are released, and I'll be purchasing The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion as soon as I get my PS3. After that, more, such as Assassin's Creed (PS3; Early November), Super Mario Galaxy (Wii; Nov. 12), Super Smash Brothers: Brawl (Wii; Dec. 3), Grand Theft Auto IV (PS3; Early 2008) and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (PS3; Early 2008), plus others in between those releases, and those in the indefinite future (Such as the new Splinter Cell: Conviction and Final Fantasy Versus XIII). This also doesn't include any Virtual Console releases I've yet to become knowledgeable of, or games such as Spider-Man: Friend Or Foe, to which I'm on the fence.

The list (In no particular order):
Pokemon Diamond (DS) - 3 Badges, not nearly completed Pokedex, or game.
Need For Speed: Underground 2 (PS2) - Not yet started.
Need For Speed: Most Wanted (PS2) - Not yet started.
Ico (PS2) - About one-fourth completed.
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey Of The Cursed King (PS2) - Very early on. A 100% completion run.
Final Fantasy XII (PS2) - Sandsea, early on. A 100% completion run.
Viewtiful Joe (PS2) - First stage.
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (PC) - "Kill Everyone" cheat run. Prepped, but not yet started.
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories (PS2) - Second mission. Majority of red balloons shot. 100% completion run.
Tony Hawk's American Wasteland: Special Edition (PS2) - First area cleared.
The Godfather (PS2) - Not yet started.
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance (PS2) - Normal & Hard more completion.
Bully (PS2) - On Chapter 3 of 5. 100% Completion Run.
Hitman 2: Silent Assassin (PS2) - Not yet Started.
Hitman: Contracts (PS2) - Not yet started.
Final Fantasy III (DS) - Not yet started.
Resident Evil 4 (PS2) - Professional Mode run.
Tomb Raider: Anniversary (PS2) - Not yet started.
Super Metroid (Wii VC) - Not yet started.
Super Mario 64 (Wii VC) - About 20 Stars left to acquire.
Super Mario World (Wii VC) - Currently at Second Castle.
Paper Mario 64 (Wii VC) - Not yet started.
Wave Race 64 (Wii VC) - Expert Mode left to complete.
Street Fighter II: Hyper Turbo Fighting (Wii VC)
- Not yet started.
The King Of Fighters '98: The Slugfest/Dream Match Never Ends (NeoGeo) - Still regaining skill in the game. Can't get past second team.
The King Of Fighters 2000 (NeoGeo) - Not yey started.
The Legend Of Zelda (Wii VC) - Not yet started.
The Legend Of Zelda II (Wii VC) - I don't even know what the Hell to do...
The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past (Wii VC) - Not yet started.

So you see, my schedule is quite full.
And many of the above are games that will take forever to complete. DQVIII and FFXII alone will take probably 100+ hours, if not more. Bully & Vice City Stories will be upwards to 40-50. Pokemon & FFIII, even though they are handheld games, are also about 50-60+ hours each. Probably the same with Phantom Hourglass when it comes out.

On top of this, I've two games on order: Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition (PS2) and Burnout: Dominator (PS2), which of course shall require more time.

It's not a problem of money, luckily (For the most part anyway). I've got a job, and I live at home, so I'm bill-less (With the exception of $20 a month for my Cell Phone). I do have a student loan to start paying off in February, but by then I anticipate having a better job. So time is the only real factor. Time is my only true enemy.

Wish me luck! Better yet, wish me time! I need it...desperately.

[VG Blog] - So Many Video Games, So Little Time

Comments

haha, I know so many video games!

There's some PS3 game's I might wanna try out

What ones?

I try to prioritize my gaming, and leave it to one game at a time. I finished Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal normally and in challenge mode, got everything interesting, now I'm waiting for the new Metroid Prime because it's going to be amazing. The only other thing I've really been playing is Tekken 5, but I always go back to that when I don't have anything else to play. Probably Guitar Hero as well if I ever get around to buying it. I told Life it would be the next PS2 game I buy so I guess I'll have to eventually.

Also, I'd go for Devil May Cry 3 as your next project because it's amazing. Never have I had so much fun getting my ass kicked. Over and over to the point where I gave up and didn't play it for a week or so. But don't play easy mode because that means you're lame.

'Grats on R&C.

I'm trying to keep it one game at a time, but I'm fumbling between platforms, mostly. I'm quite impulsive with my games as well. I'll have an urge for a certain game or genre, and have to dig it out. It's left me screwed with some games (Like Bully or my 100% run of FFXII) as I'm only part-way done and not sure of what i've collected or needs to be done next. I imagine a scour through GameFAQs will help that, though.

As for DMC, I actually have all three, just not the special edition version I've ordered, featuring a playable Vergil and extra modes and whatnot. I'm actually pretty damn good with DMC, with the exception ofthe first one (I find it the hardest). I've completed everything in DMC2 and in DMC3, after back-breaking yet enjoyable labor. It's so fun to get into an awesome combo in DMC3.

I'm trying to rush through Pokemon Diamond right now, and also to finish off Tony Hawk's American Wasteland, as it really sucks (Actually, I think I've just outgrown the genre and cliches). Chances are, after those, DMC3:SE will take up my time, as I've been waiting on it for a while. I'm still kicking myself for a missed opportunity months ago to pick it up as a set with the other two games for $30+. I refused to buy it as I already had the other two, but in hindsight, I could have just sold them. Now it's costing me $30 just for this one game.

Oh well.

You seem to know everything about video games. It's amazing.

I am knowledgeable of the geeky and nerdy beyond my years. :D

if you want video game advice just ask the guy at g4 called me so uhm really just ask straight questions and ill answer with a true answer and really thoughtful from thousands of people

I don't need video game advice. Thanks anyway.

ohh and i know more

That's nice.

Please don't.

Don't what? Let me guess: Buy a PS3?

the ps3 is in third place for the console wars right now all it really has is graphics and very few games that are actually worth buying

I don't care how the PS3 is doing money-wise. It has console-exclusive games I want, such as the new Ratchet & Clank game, or MGS4, plus forthcoming games like the final fantasies and whatnot.

if you dont have buy a 360

I don't have nor want a 360. Only 3 games for it interest me, and not enough to buy the machine itself. I also couldn't care less about Halo 3 or online play, so the PS3 is fine.

Woah, nice collection there, I pride myself on Beating the R&C games, but I am still looking for Dreadlocked, Insomniac can't be beat XP

Yeah, I love the R&C games. Good ol' Insomniac.
And Deadlocked is good, but the others are better thanks to the platforming elements.

holy hitchcock! thats a lot of games! i thought i had a lot xD, i advise you trying out these two however, (as i didnt see them on the list and there the two favorites of my colection)
Shadow of the colossus, (from the Makers of the Ico game you have) simply the most stunning modern game ever to grace a console, PS2
Killer7, from the makers of Devil May Cry and the Graphical team of Viewtiful Joe (before they ran off and created clover studios) advise renting or trying it out first as this is a you hate it or you love it game, it has the most amasing scenes in it with a engaging plot and the same brand of ultra violence that most of us love, its... just... a sexy game to look at PS2 or Gamecube (Gamecube version has faster loadtimes,)

Actually, that's just the games I need to complete or start. My whole collection is at least three times as big, if not more.

I own SOTC, and it is one of my all-time favorite games, and what inspired me to seek out Ico. I've beaten it over 8 times. :D

Killer7 doesn't seem like something I'd like too much, but I'll hve to give it a fiar turn as you suggested. Thanks.

And thanks for the comment...But did I see you badmouth Clover Studios? >:o
Someone hasn't played Okami...

fuck you

Lawl.

A storm is not coming.

Get the 60GB PS3 I am waiting for GTA 4 to buy it, then other games like motorstorm uh nhl 08 and heavenly sword. then for Wii the link crossbow shooter game for the zapper, super paper mario, and Rat-A-2-E. For VC I have 1500 pts but dont know what to download.

oh and I estimated a max 1,320 USD for the contents in your pic
P.S. LOZ Phantom Hourglass looks stupid.
